Menagerie is a personal collection management app. Almost all your collection data is stored locally on your device — we don't run user accounts, and we don't collect or store your photos or item details on our servers.
All items, photos, categories, custom fields, and values are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data never leaves your device except when you explicitly choose to back it up, export it, or share it.
If you enable iCloud backup, your collection data and photos sync to your personal iCloud account. This is governed by Apple's own iCloud privacy policy — we have no access to your iCloud data.
When you use AI features (photo identification, price research, checklist auto-populate), photos and item details are sent through our backend server to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis.
Our server does not store your photos or item data — it only relays the request. It does keep a simple usage count (how many AI calls a given device has used) so we can enforce free trial and subscription limits; this count is tied to a random device identifier, not to your identity. Photos are not retained by Anthropic beyond the API request. See anthropic.com/privacy for Anthropic's own policy.
Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment information. Apple may share limited transaction information with us (such as whether a purchase is active) so the app can unlock the corresponding features.
· No analytics or behavioral tracking beyond the AI-call counter described above
· No crash reporting
· No personal information — no name, email, or location
· No advertising or third-party tracking SDKs
· No user accounts or profiles
You have complete control over your data. Export it any time via Settings → Backup & Restore. Deleting the app removes all local data. You can manage or delete your iCloud data through your Apple ID settings at any time.
Menagerie is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, note it in the app's "What's New" screen.
